Young Henrys, one of Sydney’s most formative local craft breweries has announced a brewing partnership with Goulburn contract brewers, Tribe.

The partnership will allow Young Henrys unlimited growth opportunity and the ability to stay independently owned by the founders.

The union will simply be brewing, allowing the Newtown locals to move into Goulburn’s new, purpose-built brewery with the ability to match batch size to Young Henrys output, ensuring beer is fresh into the market and in keeping with Young Henrys’ stringent quality assurance standards. There will be no equity or change of hands for either company.

Tribe’s new brewery and facility has a capacity of 30 million litres p.a. with the eventual potential of over 70 million litres p.a. It is one of the largest contract craft beverage production facilities of its kind, utilising the latest in brewing and packaging technology and Young Henrys will now become their largest strategic partner.

Quality of brew is extremely important to both, with Young Henrys and Tribe’s labs members of BIRA (Brewing Interlaboratory Reference Analytes) to ensure quality metrics are parallel.

On the partnership, Young Henrys Co-Founder, Richard Adamson says “We’re pumped to be brewing with Tribe in a brand new, state of the art facility that extends the capacity of our Newtown brewery to bring fresh, high-quality beers to the people. It’s fantastic to be working with another independent company that has a similar focus on community and sustainability.

Tribe and Young Henrys are key members of the Independent Brewer’s Association (IBA) working with government agencies, industry, trade and international counterparts to represent the interests of Australian independent brewers. In the face of increasing overseas domination, it’s important to have two medium sized independent Australian companies working together towards a common goal.

Tribe Founder Anton Szpitalak says:

“We are stoked to work with Young Henrys. They are great people, have a cracking brand and know how to make amazing beer. A lot of brands as successful as Young Henrys simply struggle to keep up with the demands of thirsty consumers and plenty end up giving up on their Independent dream for that next step

up in scale. Building our platform broad enough to be able to be that partner for passionate artisans is what Tribe is all about. Working with the Young Henrys crew again and keeping beer in the Independent family feels awesome.”

Young Henrys stands behind an unwavering vision to create booze loved by their local communities and good time enthusiasts around Australia are proud to call their own.

By keeping things local, reducing environmental impact, and collaborating with like-minded, passionate, creative people, Young Henrys helps turn up the volume on diverse (sometimes smaller) voices in their community. The partnership with Tribe ensures the much-loved brewery remains independent and can continue to deliver opportunities for their community and the Australian craft industry.
