The National Trust-listed Tooborac Hotel and Brewery has been listed for sale for the first time in 17 years.

The announcement was made to the business’ Facebook page last month, stating “it was time” for new owners to helm the business.

“After 17 years, it’s time for James & Val [Carlin] to move on, and give the old girl some fresh legs,” the post read.

“It’s been a wonderful 17 years that have seen so many changes, ups and downs (thanks Covid) and memories made in this beautiful Hotel.

“It will be a sad day when the Carlin family walk away from the grand old lady, but the time has come for a new chapter in their lives, and the beginning of a new one for The Tooby.”

Built in 1857, the Tooborac Hotel and Brewery is claimed to be the oldest National Trust-listed country pub in Victoria.

James and Valerie Carlin acquired the business in 2005, when the venue had been idle for three years. Under their ownership, the hotel underwent renovations including the brewery setting up in its Cobb & Co coach stables.

CRE Brokers has been appointed to sell the hotel, with Phil Mammolito acting as the lead broker.

No sale price has been listed however, the commercial real estate listing states the leasehold at $440,000.

The listing states that the venue offers the hotel, brewery and pie shop, which acts as a separate business from the hotel, offering multiple streams of income.

Elsewhere in breweries for sale, the owners of Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel withdrew the venue from the market last month, one year after being listed for sale.
