A collaboration between Western Australian Music (WAM) and Tapped by Otherside will get nine local up-and-coming music acts over to BIGSOUND – Australia’s largest festival dedicated to discovering the future of Australian music – where they will perform in September this year.

BIGSOUND grant recipients include Lucy Peach, Superego, Noah Dillon, Flossy, Reija Lee, Dulcie, The Money War, Butter and Jack Davies and the Bush Chooks.

According to Otherside Brewing Co. Marketing Manager, Steve Finney, the collaboration with WAM sees a range of grants awarded to local musical artists, as selected by WAM, to get them to BIGSOUND providing invaluable development and networking opportunities.

“We’re stoked to collaborate with WAM this year, to extend our reach and deliver big opportunities that will significantly impact emerging musical talent. I have no doubt that this will be a big stepping stone for the careers of each grant recipient, with some big names like Flume, Courtney Barnett, Tash Sultana and The Middle East all having played at BIGSOUND at the start of their musical journeys.”

Tapped by Otherside is a brand born from a love of music, festivals and creativity and a genuine desire to unearth and support emerging creative and musical talent. The program is our commitment to growing opportunities and capacity for local emerging musical and creative art talent through grants, artist collaborations and incubator programs.

“Tapped is all about amplifying the exploration and experimentation of the arts in all its forms and has already helped musicians like Verge Collection, Koi Child and Stella Donnelly.” Steve said.

As part of Tapped by Otherside’s commitment, it will provide BIGSOUND grant recipients with premium rehearsal space at Freo.Social’s Entertainment Hall. The newly opened live entertainment venue is a world-class performance space featuring cutting edge sound systems, state-of-the-art acoustics.

“It’s great to be able to provide grant recipients a real-live venue, the calibre of Freo.Social, to rehearse in before hitting the big stages in Brisbane next month.” Steve added.

Established in 2016, Tapped by Otherside invests in the development of emerging musical and creative talent via a range of collaboration and networking opportunities, incubator programs and grants. In just three years, the Tapped by Otherside fund has grown from $20,000 to a projected $200,000 in 2020.
