As the hospitality industry begins to reopen their doors, a collaboration of breweries from Western Australia’s South West have united to showcase the region’s craft brewing goods.
Black Brewing Co, BeerFarm, Rocky Ridge and Cheeky Monkey Brewing, have each selected one of their favourite beers to feature in a mixed pack named South West Brews.
COVID-19 has brought agony to the industry over the past few months however thanks to campaigns including the #keepinglocalalive, there have also been many positive changes including an increase in support and recognition for small local businesses.
“The idea to collaborate was to not only to help increase sales, it was to showcase a sample of what our region has to offer and to show how we can all work together to build both brand and region awareness.” said Matt Shiel, Black Brewing Co’s Perth Brand Ambassador.
The South West Brews mixed 16 pack will feature a stand out beer from each of the breweries.
Black Brewing Co will feature their Autumn Seasonal – Blackberry Gose. Inspired by the cool autumn nights and the warm days, where the taste of the salty Australian summer still lingers on your lips. With an ABV of 5% this gose is a bright, lip smacking salty beer with a subtle tartness from the addition of fresh blackberries. It’s crisp, it’s dry and very refreshing.
BeerFarm have included their Milk Stout, a much loved winter regular. The stout is rich and rounded with all the bitter chocolate and coffee flavours you would expect. They have added milk sugar (lactose) to give this stout a velvety texture and probably a few more hops than usual in the style. ABV – 5.5%
Rocky Ridge have chosen to include a new Juicy Pale Ale that is labelled with their original flagship packaging. You will find subtle melon, peach and citrusy notes alongside a pale malt sweetness. A Pale Ale with dense, crisp notes and a stunning golden colour. ABV – 4.8%
Last but not least, Cheeky Monkey have delivered their 2020 release of Imperial Monk. A big IPA in line with a West Coast style. Citrus and pine hop aromatics push through caramel and dark fruit notes delivered by the malt bill. This IPA will deliver an upfront caramel sweetness with dried fruits like raisins followed by a hint of marmalade like citrus across the mid palate. The finish is quite dry even though the mouthfeel is big and full. ABV – 8.3%
The South West Brews Mixed 16 pack will be rolling out to selected liquor stores around Western Australia this week. For those residing on the east coast who are tempted by the region’s selection, Black Brewing Co will have a limited amount of packs available to order on their online store.
To enhance the taste of the region experience, the four breweries will also be broadcasting a live virtual tasting on Instagram, this Sunday, 24th May 2020 at 1pm. The event will be a part of Cabin Fever’s virtual program taking place online over the coming months. To tune in, jump onto instagram this Sunday.
