Ride to Conquer Cancer raises a glass
I’m always keen to help out when someone needs a hand for a good cause so when this request came through I couldn’t say ’no’. The owner and chef at The Plough Hotel in Myrniong, Mark Mills, explained that one of his restaurant regulars was desperate to raise enough funds to complete the Ride to Conquer Cancer and was interested in running a dinner to get the kitty filled.
Such is the nature of this thing we call the Beer Community that within minutes we had arranged for a special price for a four course meal, all the beer we needed to match it to the food and the services of a none-too-shabby host to put together a night of fun, froth, feasting and fund-raising.
Karina lost her Dad to cancer and wanted to honour his legacy by competing in the annual fund/awareness-raising bike ride benefitting The Peter Mac Cancer Clinic – The Ride To Conquer Cancer. To do this, she needs $2500 just to make the starting line so I’m putting out a call to all beer lovers to lend a hand if you can.
If some of you generous beer-loving city types are free on Sunday June 9 at 7pm, get on the phone, book a table and get stuck in. if you are unable to get there in person – and here’s a shout-out to all those very generous brewers and suppliers and distributors – please help us out by donating a couple of beers, a bit of merch or a voucher that we can auction or raffle off on the night.
Anyone able to assist with booty please contact Prof directly at Brews News and I’ll get out and collect it personally with thanks and a big smile.
If anyone would like to put together a table for the dinner, you can call Mark direct at The Plough on 5368 7173.
