Radio Brews News Episode 159
This week on Radio Brews News Pete Mitcham and Matt Kirkegaard are joined by guest host Pia Poynton to discuss the news of the week.
Pia is founder of website Girl+Beer and contributes to both Crafty Pint and Froth Magazine and she was a finalist in Media category in the 2016 and 2017 Australian International Beer Awards. She has spent the best part of 10 years pouring beers as a bartender/manager or selling beer as a rep and in December 2017 became a Certified Cicerone.
Pia joins us for a wide ranging discussion about the news, including:
-
- Optus Stadium mega pub set to open doors on Friday. How big is too big and are governments sending mixed messages about alcohol?
- The rise of Furphy and the rising indignation about popular craft beers.
- The rise of the midstrength ‘craft’ lager.
- German Olympians drink a lot of (non-alcoholic) beer, and win a lot of gold medals, but is this PR or will non-alcoholic beers catch on here?
