For three weeks, from 26 November, a strangely unique, vacant site on Hay Street, Subiaco, will be transformed into a thriving festival-like social hub featuring award-winning Otherside Brewing beers, WA wines and spirits, food trucks, local live music, art and more.
Welcome to the Otherside is a new initiative by Triple-1-Three, the team behind some of Perth’s most socially amplified venues including Freo.Social and the Otherside Brewhouse, Myaree and the award-winning Otherside Brewing Co.
It will literally see the Otherside brand experience ‘go on the road’ and temporarily locate in currently un-activated urban spaces – with the first stop in Subiaco.
Commenting on the initiative, Triple-1-Three CEO Al Taylor said, “as a direct result of COVID-19 lots of great Perth venues – places where people go to connect including pubs, restaurants and venues – have closed. Working in partnership with Crafted Events, we have worked out a way to take the ‘Otherside’ experience to the people and create something fun and interesting for the community – a place where they can come together – even if only for a short time.
“When we saw the site in Subiaco, behind the pink Corner Gallery, with its oddly interesting urban scape and graffiti walls, we thought “perfect” and it’s just down the road from the recently closed Vic Hotel. So, we worked a way to bring the space to life.”
Opening on 26 November, Welcome to the Otherside Subiaco will accommodate up to 450 patrons. The transformed site will feature a 20-tap container bar with a rooftop area, performance spaces for music and art, kids play area and social spaces.
The complete Otherside core range, as well as latest experimental brews, will be on offer along with Vasse Felix wines, ciders, Western Australian spirits and special concoctions created especially for Subi by the Crafted Events team. It will also feature an on-site food truck and guest local cuisine.
According to Steve Finney, General Manager of Otherside Brewing Co., “there really isn’t anything like Welcome to the Otherside in Subiaco at the moment.
“It will be a place for everyone – for those that love to socialise, to drink good beer and eat good food, families, and those who enjoy live music and live art and will have a true Subi flavour. It really will be something quite special and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone there very soon.”
Welcome to the Otherside Subiaco can be found at 263 3/4 Hay Street, Subiaco from 26 November to 13 December, and will be open Thursdays 4pm – 9pm; Fridays 4pm – 11pm: Saturdays 11am – 11pm; and Sundays 11am – 8pm.
