Otherside Brewing Co. are calling on all WA music lovers and live music venues to get behind a new initiative to raise funds and awareness of the plight faced by those in the WA live music production industry.
‘Feedback for Good’ – a joint initiative by Otherside Brewing’s ‘Tapped by Otherside’ in conjunction with CrewCare’s Roady4Roadies – is designed to raise awareness to the challenges that have beset WA’s live music production industry as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Since the pandemic onset, border closures and venue restrictions have, all but, made touring, large events and festivals impossible,” said Al Taylor, CEO of Triple-1-Three, the group behind Otherside Brewing and Freo.Social.
“The direct, and flow-on, impact that has had on so many people in the production industry – in areas such as sound, lighting, staging and crews – has been devastating.
“While local artists have seen some benefit through performance opportunity, the production industry has been decimated. They have suffered big time – both mentally and financially, and while many industries are getting back on track, that isn’t the case for production crews.
“WA’s live music production industry is the backbone of the music industry. They have always had our backs and it’s time for us to have theirs. Our own organisation is born from a love of live music. We are deeply invested in this industry and committed to doing our bit to help. So, we’ve worked closely with Crew Care to conceptualise and launch Feedback for Good.” Mr Taylor added.
Feedback for Good is a month-long promotion launching on 10 June. It calls on all live music venues to get onboard to collectively fundraise with all monies going to those in the production industry who most need it.
Otherside Brewing has pledged to provide its creative release series beer – ‘Feedback’ – at a significant discount to any participating live music venues and will donate $50 for every keg taken on by a venue during the period.
Kicking off the campaign, Freo.Social will host a launch event on Thursday 10 June , the night will be headlined by WA artist Matt Gresham and including performances by Nicole Ferreira, Narelle Bell, Phil Walley Stack, Tom Mantle and more. Profit from the event will be donated to the Feedback for Good fund.
James Legge, Otherside Brewing Founder said “The kick-off concert at Freo.Social is an opportunity to bring everyone together to not only raise awareness of the financial and mental impacts that many in the production industry have been facing. It’s also a demonstration of what we can cooperatively do to support this important industry – artists have waived their performance fees, the ticket agent has waived ticket fees, we’ve waived our venue fee and all bar profits will be donated to the cause.”
“It’s the least we can do for an industry that’s helped to give us so many great shows over the years” Mr Legge said.
CrewCare Founding Director Tony Moran applauded the concept saying, “CrewCare is thrilled the Roady4Roadies event can now go ahead as part of Feedback for Good campaign and that 100 per cent of ticket sales from the concert will be directed where it’s needed most via the Support Act Crew Fund.”
The Feedback for Good kick-off concert will take place at Freo.Social at 7pm on Thursday 10 June. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased via Moshtix (www.moshtix.com.au).
