Otherside Brewing Co ‘Banana Shake IPA’
Otherside Brewing Co‘s latest Experimental Series beer will hit Perth shelves next week on February 25. This Banana Shake IPA has proved a challenge for Otherside brewerRhys Lopez, who said that many brewers told him that it wasn’t going to work.
“Typically a Hefeweizen yeast strain, which brings the banana flavour, doesn’t go well with bitterness, so using this strain in an IPA is difficult to pull off,” Lopez explained.
Despite that, Lopez said that he is happy with how the beer turned out.Banana Shake exhibits banana characters from the yeast, and melon and pineapple from the hops. Lopez thenadded vanilla and lactose to give the beer that milkshake feel.
Beer DeLuxe in Federation Square, Melbourne, is hosting a launch party for the Banana Shake IPA and another yet-to-be-released Otherside beer on March 9.
