New Beers Wrap
Wolf of the Willows Brewing Co, Lark Barrel Aged Imperial JSP
Victoria’s Wolf of the Willows Brewing Co is set to release its 2019 Lark Barrel Aged Imperial JSP.
Lark whisky barrels, used as part of a barrel exchange project, were filled with Johnny Smoke Porter and left to age.
The casks were emptied and then returned back to Lark Distillery where they were filled with a hand selected single malt whisky.
Wolf of the Willows says this porter has flavours of vanilla, mocha, peat, dark chocolate, molasses, truffles and espresso.
The Lark Barrel Aged Imperial JSP will be available in mid to late July in 16 x 440ml tinnies and 30-litre kegs. Expression of interest and pre-orders are available now.
Endeavour Brewing Co, Stacked IPA
Endeavour Brewing Co has released its latest brew, the all-Aussie Stacked IPA.
It uses Ella, Vic Secret, Galaxy and Australian Cascade hops and 100% Australian ingredients, says Endeavour.
Released at GABS Sydney, the Stacked IPA is named for the way Endeavour stacks its Sydney Brew Bar Tanks at venue The Rocks.
Endeavour said that it has tropical fruit aromas and a medium mouthfeel. It said the beer had been in the works for two years and is only now being released after “many tweaks”.
It’s available in bottleshops now and is going on tap at outlets including the Endeavour Tap Rooms at The Rocks and selected Sydney venues.
Stone & Wood, Kveik IPA
Stone & Wood’s Pilot Brewery has brewed an IPA using yeast from Norway. Kveik means ‘yeast’ in a number of Norwegian dialects. It covers a range of yeast cultured collected and propagated on farms in Norway for centuries.
Stone & Wood sourced its Kveik from its lab yeast supplier and will continue to trial the yeast with a range of pilot brews in 2019. Stone & Wood said Kveik is supposedly heat and alcohol tolerant, as well as fermenting quickly and delivering consisten flavour profiles such as lemon and lime.
Ingredients in its Kveik IPA include Maris Otter malt and Amarillo and Citra hops. It comes in at 6.4% abv.
