New Beer Releases: September

The latest beer and beverage releases from Australian and New Zealand breweries for September 2020.

September 25th

Danker Things | Fixation Brewing Co.

Fixation Brewing Co.’s Danker Things #3 is in the brewer’s classic style – hop driven.

The 7% abv beer is triple dry hopped with Citra and Mosaic hops at 14 g/L. Brewer Sam Bethune said that the hops were added in early and late fermentations as well as at the point of maturation.

“From the work we’ve been doing at the incubator I find this range optimal to get most extraction of the hop oils & flavour without becoming green/harsh/vegetal,” he said.

The wort itself is fermented warmer than usual at around 24°C to encourage increased ester production while the salt balance lends heavily towards calcium chloride to give a sweeter perceived finish and softness on the palate, he explained.

Danker Things started life as Fixation’s first beer to be released post-shutdown (the first time) and since then the Melbourne brewers have launched 17 different cans to keep brewers and staff working.

The label art on the brew was designed by Melbourne graphic artist and musician Adam Collins, and cans will be available from the Fixation’s Incubator in Collingwood or online.
