Munro Development tavern space up for lease
The Queen Victoria Market is delivering the largest addition to the precinct in many years with Stage 1 of the ‘Munro Development’ due to launch early next year. The first stage of the development shifts the primary car park underground with 500 spaces sitting underneath 2 levels of brand-new retail space. Plans show the existing car park will be transformed into a 1.75-hectare public open space, dramatically improving the surrounding landscape.
The crown jewel of the development is the corner tavern tenancy which includes a first-floor balcony overlooking the market, wrapping around the Queen St/Therry St corner – and it’s now available for lease.
Stan Liacos, Chief Executive Officer, Queen Victoria Market, said “The Munro Development’s Tavern space will expand and enhance the Market’s hospitality offering to address an area of great new opportunity. The addition of the new Tavern tenancy will build on the vibrant authentic offering of our great Market – by day and night!”
Announcements on which retailers have already been secured for the project are expected soon, but fair to say it will be a representation of Melbourne’s best F&B operators.
Colliers agents Adam Lester and Jennifer Tai are managing the leasing process on behalf of QVM for the tavern site, with a view to see the space open and trading by mid-2022.
