Moffat Beach Brewing Co. has taken out the top gong at the Royal Queensland Beer Awards with its Session IPA. 

The Sunshine Coast brewery, which also performed strongly at last year’s Indies, won the Rallings Grand Champion Beer with its Moffs Summer Ale and received a $5,000 Lion bursary, as part of the award. 

Moffat Beach also took out the Champion Small/Medium Brewery, Best Queensland Beer and Champion Session Beer awards, furthering its claim as one of the most awarded breweries in the country.

Victoria’s Stomping Ground Brewing Co. won Champion Large Brewery while Scarborough Harbour Brewing Co. took out Champion Brewpub and Best New Brewery, almost one year after opening.  

11 of the 17 trophies went to Queensland breweries, including Glass House Brewery, new brewery Hound & Stag and Range Brewing. 

Western Australian performed strongly with two trophies, going to Black Brewing Co. and Nail Brewing Australia. 

This year’s awards took place today, 1st March, at Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds, with 50 industry experts judging the 663 entries, a 15 per cent increase from last year.
