Local Taphouse Hottest 100 craft beers 2013
Comment…
Brews News is proud to join The Crafty Pint in promoting the The Local Taphouse’s annual Hottest 100. The poll is always controversial, but the team behind it are always striving to make it the most credible and transparent poll that they can. While no poll is perfect, the most important thing is it gets people talking about beer and thinking back about their memorable brews over the past 12 months.
It is a huge effort getting it up and running and managing the more than 1300 beers from 164 breweries around the country. This number will be sure to rise, so if your pick is not there don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments and we’ll make sure it’s added.
We encourage you to take the time to vote and then join us all as we count down the top 100 on Australia Day next year.

Beer lovers unite to celebrate the year’s best Australian craft beers
Thousands of passionate craft beer lovers are once again participating in a nationwide poll to determine the ‘Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of 2013’ with leading craft beer venues around the country simultaneously counting down the results at events planned for Australia Day.
The poll began in 2008 as a fun way for staff and customers at The Local Taphouse speciality beer bars in Sydney and Melbourne to vote for their favourite Australian craft beers of the year. Six years later, the poll’s increasing popularity mirrors the growing interest in flavoursome Australian craft beer which is increasingly threatening the historic dominance of mainstream beers.
“The Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers poll is always a fun time as it encourages beer lovers to think about and discuss the great beers, new and old, we have enjoyed over the past year,” says co-founder of The Local Taphouse, Steve Jeffares, “and when the results are announced, it’s a great celebration of the awesome craft beer scene in this country”.
Craft beer fans are encouraged to participate by voting for their favourite five Australian craft beers tasted this year at CraftyPint.com or BrewsNews.com.au. Previous winners of the poll include Little Creatures Pale Ale, Feral Hop Hog India Pale Ale (IPA), Murray’s Icon Double IPA and Stone & Wood’s Pacific Ale.
The following craft beer-focused venues have already confirmed they will be counting down the Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of 2013 live at events on Australia Day (January 26, 2014). All venues will be selling many of the top rating beers.
