The Chair of the Board of Examiners invites beverage industry professionals globally to apply to become a part of the prestigious Institute of Brewing & Distilling Board of Examiners.

The Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD) is the professional body for the worldwide industries of brewing and distilling. Currently, well over 3000 candidates from over 90 countries worldwide take IBD Examinations each year and its qualifications are regarded as the benchmark for the scientific and technical knowledge needed to make safe, consistently excellent products. In the last two years, IBD has moved all of its examinations to an online platform resulting in its examinations being much more accessible to all candidates globally.

The IBD Examination Board is therefore looking to enhance its Examination Board capacity and is now recruiting for two separate roles; Examiners and Markers.

The appointed Examiners will mainly be required to conduct the drafting of examination questions across all levels of the IBD qualifications according to the IBD Examination Board validated plan. The main part of this work usually takes place between November and March.

The appointed Markers will be required to carry out the marking of candidate submissions mainly for the Diploma and Master examinations usually from June through to August each year.

The IBD Examination Board is especially keen to receive applications from packaging and engineering professionals at this time.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

Qualifications:

• All applicants must at least hold a pass in IBD Diploma or IBD Master qualifications and/or a BSc or MSc in a relevant scientific discipline

Experience

• Marker roles: Applicants should be able to demonstrate that they have sufficient experience and technical knowledge in order to mark technical papers using a defined marking scheme
• Examiner roles: Applicants should have worked at a fairly senior technical level within organisations and have broad cross-functional experience within the industry ideally with previous marking or examination experience.

Time commitments:

• Marker roles: requirement will on average be around 30 to 40 hours in total between June and August
• Examiner roles: requirement will average to an equivalent of circa 40 hours usually between November and March

Location

• Whilst IBD head office is in London, UK, Examiner and Marker roles will be remotely based at their home locations globally. There may on occasion be a requirement to travel to Examination Board Meetings however the vast majority of these are now facilitated virtually

RATES

These roles are remunerated and fees will be shared with successful candidates at the time of role offer.
