The team at Local Brewing Co. have found their new home in the inner suburbs of Melbourne, and they can’t wait to serve you fresh beer in their neighbourhood inspired taproom.

After 18 months of searching for the right opportunity, the socially minded brewers announce their new home in the little green pocket of Clifton Hill in Melbourne’s inner north. This taproom is uniquely placed and marks a significant milestone in the brand’s growth after gaining council approval with launch expected mid-2022.

It will serve as a community hub for those who love great craft beer and moreover it will help drive social impact through the brewery’s association with non-for-profit charity SecondBite.

Furthermore, the location is only 500m away from where the indie brewers produced their first beer in Collingwood; what has become a fan favourite Sunset XPA. The space itself is an industrial warehouse that will be converted to a thriving hospitality venue hosting up to 75 patrons with a curated selection of 10 beers on tap. Enlisting the help of local Interior Designer Janet McCulloch, who was responsible for the renowned Two Birds ‘Nest’ in Spotswood, it delivers a distinctive balance between industrial flare and relaxation. In time, this will be home to 1,500-litre small batch microbrewery for exclusive runs and an on-site pizza kitchen serving up a rotating selection of local ingredients.

Local Brewing Co Co-founder and Finance Director, Chris Cefala said “the team had been looking for the perfect property for a while and the COVID period allowed us to have a think about the type of venue we wanted as the flagship for our brand. After a few protracted negotiations we identified Hilton St, Clifton Hill as the perfect, yet unique location to take Local Brewing Co to the next level. The investment in a taproom is our vote of confidence in our product, brand and craft beer generally in Melbourne – we think our customers will love it.”

With building set to start over the coming weeks, this will be the first of many more exciting things to come for the indie-brewers in 2022. To stay updated on the build and the eventual launch events, please follow their new venue instagram handle @localbrewingau_taproom
