Celebrating the very best in craft beer can design, the GABS Can Design Awards presented by Orora in association with Opal Speciality Packaging, Bintani and Brews News, are back for the 3rd year!
With so many great brews of the highest quality now on retailer’s shelves, the outside of the tin has become more important than ever before. How you stand out in a crowd and bring to life the story of the great craft beer contained inside the tin has become the daily challenge for brewery creatives. The canvas of the can has been quickly transformed from boring and informative to stunning and brilliantly executed art that consumers cannot resist picking up.
Last year, Victoria’s Stomping Ground cemented their place in the hall of fame as their 60s and 70s abstract, psychedelic inspired design Nectaron of the Gods was crowned the 2021 winner of theOrora Golden Can trophy!
All breweries across Australia are now invited to submit a beer can design which was released for purchase between the 17th July 2021 and 31st August 2022. The top 10 designs will be selected in a people’s choice vote and then adjudicated by a panel of industry experts from some of the most prestigious design agencies in the country, including representatives from M&C Saatchi, Canva, Deloitte’s Digital and The Thought Police.
Whilst entries are free, the winning designer walks away with $1,000 in cash from Bintani and the brewery will receive the prestigious golden can trophy plus a set of printing plates from Orora and one ton of malt from leading ingredients supplier, Bintani. An additional $5,000 worth of prizes from Opal Specialty Packagingis shared amongst the Top 10.
Displayed in a beautiful digital art gallery, it’s a fantastic way for breweries to introduce their brand to new audiences and get in front of thousands of beer enthusiasts.
