2018 Australian International Beer Awards

Brewers and breweries of all sizes, from boutique small volume to large scale commercial production are invited to benchmark their brews against the best in the business in the world’s largest annual beer competition, the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA).

Judging both draught and packaged beer, the AIBA inspire and celebrate excellence in brewing, attracting over 2,000 entries from 358 breweries in 36 countries in 2017.

To better align the judging process with other international beer awards the 2018 AIBA will not be presided over by a Head Judge.

“Judging will be overseen by the Competition Manager and Head Steward, with more responsibility allocated to Table Captains,” said Paul Guerra, CEO, The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), the organisation responsible for managing the AIBA.

“We are continually looking for ways to enhance the awards and the AIBA Industry Advisory Group will continue to provide recommendations and guidance to maintain the ongoing professionalism and integrity of the competition.”

Reflecting the diverse and varied production around the world, the AIBA will offer a total of 19 category trophies across different styles, as well as 10 major trophies, including the coveted Champion Australian Beer and champion International Beer trophies.

The AIBA offers exhibitors an unparalleled opportunity to benchmark their beers against industry standards and medal-winning exhibitors will be promoted through the AIBA associated events, including at the GABS Beer, Cider & Food Festival during Good Beer Week in Melbourne, May 18-20.

Gold medal-winning exhibitors who have demonstrated consistency across three consecutive years (since 2015) with the same beer in the same format will be awarded a Consistency of Excellence Medal and winning exhibitors are provided with the AIBA Marketing & PR Tool Kit to assist with promoting their win and marketing their beers with a seal of quality.
