WHAT A GREAT DAY FOR CRAFT BEER!

After a very challenging, stop start 2020 for craft breweries, it was fantastic to see a record numbers of voters celebrating the craft beer industry in this year’sGABS Hottest 100.A whopping 1,951 different beers attracted votes from the nearly 200,000 cast – an impressive result considering just 150 people voted in the first poll in 2008 and testament to how many great beers have personal fans, who get to give them a shout out in the Hottest 100!

Voted Australia’s favourite Craft Beer of 2020,standing tall on top of the winner podium and creating history as the first beer from ACT to do so isBentspoke’s stunningCrankshaft American IPA!

Likened to the “Melbourne Cup” in craft beer circles by Australian Brews News, thelive countdownwas celebrated in pubs all around the country and the results set the beer digital world into overdrive.

In the battle between the states, Queensland set the bar in the Top 10 with Balter XPA and Hazy IPA, Your Mates Larry, Back Hops GOAT and Ballistic Breweries Hawaiian Haze all placing! Byron’s Stone & Wood and Sydney’s Young Henry’s Newtowner flew the NSW flag. Bentspoke added a second ACT beer with the Barley Griffin in 10thand Victoria’s best was Bridge Road’s Beechworth Pale Ale,

Impressive performances too from small breweries like #18 Beerfarm (WA) and tiny start up, #52 Cronulla Beer Co (NSW). Former PM Bob Hawke would have been over the moon with Hawke’s Brewing at #56, #67 and #92 as they still use his likeness and love for beer. Fun beers also hold their own with Grifter’s Serpent Kiss Fruit Beer, Ballistic’s Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout and Bad Shepards big Peanut Butter Porter!
