Coral Sea Brewing gets started
Three Cairns venues have begun pouring beers from Coral Sea Brewing Co, the long anticipated city centre start-up.
Coral Sea Brewing Co is located in the site formerly occupied by Blue Sky Brewery, which closed in 2014.
The new venture is backed by former Blue Sky head brewer Hayden Mokaraka and other investors.
Head brewer Morgan Hind also worked at Blue Sky and has done additional stints at Stone & Wood and Gage Roads.
He told Brews News the Coral Sea beers have been created with the Cairns market in mind, so the emphasis is on easy drinkability.
The core range comprises the Tropic Lager, Tropic Ale and Tropic Session, which will be complemented by seasonal releases, starting with a wheat beer.
Coral Sea is currently a production-only facility, but there are plans to open a taproom on site at some stage in the future.
The brewery will officially launch on Friday June 16 at The Esplanade in Cairns, where it will have all four of its beers on tap from 5pm onwards.
