Brownstone brewery hosting beer dinner
Craft beer takes centre-stage on Thursday, 23 July at Atura Dandenong’s Brownstone Micro Brewery as the popular local hangout hosts a beer-curated five-course mid-winter feast officiated by craft beer industry pioneer Eric Walters of Grand Ridge Brewery.
The diverse menu was designed by Atura Dandenong’s head chef Stavros Despotelis in consultation with Eric who has matched each course, including dessert, with a different brew or cider.
A shake-up from the traditional Brownstone offering of wood-fired pizza, paella and burgers, menu highlights at this ticketed beer extravaganza include Mt Martha mussels, twice-baked soufflé, pork belly, slow-cooked beef cheeks and sticky date pudding.
“Showcasing the variety and diversity of Australian Craft Beer styles and tastes was our main consideration when choosing the hero ingredients for the menu” said Eric Walters.
“I think we have some pretty interesting matches which I hope will challenge how guests think about beer and food pairing as well as educate them on just how far the craft beer scene has come.”
Atura’s Brownstone Micro Brewery (formerly Coldwater Creek Tavern) is a working micro-brewery in which guests can follow the craft beer journey from hop to taste as the beer vats form an integral part of the restaurant’s interior.
Renowned consultant brewer Steve “Hendo” Henderson of Brew Cult fame develops the distinct brews for Atura Dandenong that are only available at the Brownstone Microbrewery. His signature pilsner is a feature at the upcoming craft beer dinner.
The dinner starts at 6.30pm sharp at Brownstone Micro Brewery on Thursday, 23 July. Tickets cost $59 including a glass of beer matched to each of the five courses by Eric.
Guests wanting to make a night of it are invited to ‘sleepover’ Atura style after the dinner for a special beer lover’s rate of $149 including breakfast at Atura Dandenong’s other onsite restaurant – the hip Roadhouse Bar & Grill.
