Exmouth, Western Australia company Froth Craft began production of its own beers in June 2017, making it a belated addition to Brett J Stubbs’ first half tally of brewery openings.

The company began trading as a restaurant in March, serving a rotating line-up of beers from around Australia, before installing a 500-litre brewery shortly after.

Originally from British Columbia, Canada, Tyler Little has founded Froth with two business partners.

“[We] wanted to start something unique for Exmouth and its growing young population to bring an artisan aspect to the otherwise tourism and oil and gas driven local economy,” he told Brews News.

The Froth team leased and refurbished a vacant restaurant using six tonnes of rough cut jarrah timber from the Margaret River area to construct tables, nooks and a bar.

“In addition to the south west wood we sourced some local driftwood to give it a rustic, warm feeling,” Little said.

Little is the brewer in the trio and has so far created beers including a kolsch, an American pale ale and an XPA, with a mid-strength amber ale and an IPA in the pipeline.

“Commercially, I’ve had work experience at Bootleg under head brewer Ryan Nilsson-Linne and also at Eagle Bay Brewing Company under owner/head brewer Nick d’Espeissis, who have been incredibly helpful providing me work experience and advice,” Little said.

“Currently Froth Craft is only serving our beers in-house as we only have a restaurant liquor license, but we are currently in the process of applying for a tavern licence, which will enable us to sell kegs, growlers and canimals.

“We are stoked and proud to be joining the craft beer community!” he said.

Brewery openings are presented by Spark Breweries and Distilleries, the finest in-venue and production brewing systems available, with local design and support.
