Beer and food for Beervana 2011 announced
Beervana has announced the beer list and restaurant partners for the 2011 event, promising an unprecedented range of craft brews and matching food by award-winning chefs. Two hundred and eight beers from 86 breweries will be on show on 5 and 6 August at Westpac Stadium at the 10th anniversary event, which will be hosted by Australian cook and beer advocate Paul Mercurio. “Every year we try to make the event more exciting and rewarding for beer and food lovers. We’ve got a record number of beers and breweries on show this year and I’m confident regulars and newcomers will be blown away by the depth and breadth of the crafted beer category,” says Festival Director David Cryer.
Some of the typically hard-to-access beers on offer include Cassels & Sons Woolston Ale, Best Bitter and Milk Stout (Christchurch); Harrington’s Anvil (Christchurch); and 8 Wired Superconductor(Blenheim). For the first time there will also be live brewing at every session with brewing legends Ron Trigg (mike’s Organic Brewery, Urenui), Andrew Dixon (The Mussel Inn, Golden Bay), Andy Deuchars (Renaissance, Blenheim) and Paul Croucher (Crouchers, Rotorua).
Beervana is also pleased to announce that multi-award winning Wellington chef Martin Bosley has joined the 2011 event as Culinary Director.
“I have huge admiration for the brewers who are working hard to raise the standard New Zealanders expect from their beer. They’re innovative and passionate and I’m really honoured to be able to work with them to create a great experience for food and beer lovers coming to Beervana,” Bosley says.
Martin is working with a team of Wellington’s best restaurants to deliver stunning for Beervana visitors. Featuring restaurants include Boulcott Street Bistro, Logan Brown, Martin Bosley’s, Monsoon Poon, Steve Morris at Westpac Stadium Function Centre, The General Practitioner and The Hop Garden.
Beervana is held in four four-hour sessions over two days, and features high-quality hand-crafted beer from every corner of New Zealand, plus selected Australian breweries. The full beer list and tasting notes, programme and tickets are available at www.beervana.co.nz.
