Balter appoints head of sales
The new Gold Coast brewery backed by several of the world’s top surfers is continuing to assemble its operational team.
Tim Fishwick, who is currently head of sales at Sydney’s Rocks Brewing, will join Balter next month as head of sales, distribution and fulfilment.
Fishwick told Australian Brews News he had enjoyed his two-year stint at Rocks, which involved the setup of the company’s new brewery at Alexandria.
“To be part of opening a brewery was one of the challenges that I did enjoy,” he said.
“When the Balter guys approached me, I saw the sheer calibre of what they’re putting together and was hugely excited to be a part of it.”
Prior to Rocks, Fishwick had a five-year stint as east coast sales manager for Little Creatures.
Balter co-founder Stirling Howland told Australian Brews News that Fishwick’s beer sales and distribution experience would ideally complement the team’s existing skillsets.
“Tim has worked at both large and small companies in this space and his knowledge and experience was a real standout,” Howland said.
“Tim was interviewed by all the founders and he was also a great cultural fit.
“Our last and deciding criteria for anybody we employ comes down to one simple question… Would you have a beer with them? Our whole team gave Tim the green light.”
Balter aims to be fully operational by December with its first beers on the market early next year.
Sydney-based Fishwick will be acting for Balter in a fly-in-fly-out capacity in the first instance.
