The next hop in the Ballistic Beer Co. Single Hop series is the very new US hop BRU-1. To showcase this hop the brewers have made 2 beers, a HAZY IPA and a WEST COAST IPA.

“The last batch of Sabro Single Hop IPA was very well received, we have been working very closely with hop suppliers to showcase different hops. With the single hop series we usually keep the same malt bill and each time we use a different hop. Beer drinkers are finding these beers are an excellent way of understanding the flavours of each individual hops and we as brewers also learn something everytime we focus on a specific hop. This time we wanted to mix things up and give our beer lovers even more ways to compare the hops. We are very excited to release both a Hazy IPA and a West Coast IPA using the very new BRU-1 hop.” says Lachy Crothers, Head Brewer of Ballistic Beer Co.

For this release Ballistic Beer Co. has strengthened its partnership with Hop Products Australia and produced a tasting video featuring Head Brewer Lachy Crothers and with exclusive footage of the glorious hops being picked and processed at Brulotte Farms in Washington State, USA.

The Hops

BRU-1 is notable for its distinct sweet fruit aroma that is often described as pineapple. When used as a whirlpool or dry hop addition, BRU-1 delivers the aroma of freshly cut pineapple and green fruits. BRU-1 is synergistic with other hops creating a depth of fruit flavor. BRU-1 has also been shown to improve haze stability in certain beer styles.

HAZY IPA

We wanted to bring you the full Bru-1Hop experience so we brewed 2 beers to showcase the hop, this is the Hazy IPA. Aroma is juicy pineapple and tropical fruit salad. A delicate, fruity and juicy expression of Bru-1 Hops and very on trend.

ABV: 5.9%
STD Drinks: 1.7
IBU: 40
EBC: 16
FG: 3.8 ̊ P

Malt: Pale, Rolled Oats, Rolled Wheat
Hops: BRU-1
Yeast: London Ale III

WEST COAST IPA

Aroma is of over ripe and freshly cut pineapple. Tropical fruit, pear and cut grass abound with this pure expression of Bru-1 hops.

ABV: 6.1%
STD Drinks: 1.8
IBU: 60
EBC: 16
FG: 2.4 ̊ P

Malt: Pale, Cara-Hell
Hops: BRU-1
Yeast: US-05

These beers will only be available in independent bars and bottle shops for a limited time, while stocks last. Ballistic Beer Co. bars at Salisbury, West End and Springfield will also have the beer on tap and with cans available for take-away.
