Badlands Brewery Relief beer

Badlands Brewery, Orange has come up with a plan to do our bit to raise some money to help some of the devastated communities and wildlife affected by the recent fires.

We have brewed “Recovery Beer”, a one-off batch of beer in the tropical ale style – 4.5%, soft, fruity and sessionable and we will be giving away the entire batch for free!

The beer has been made possible by the awesome generosity of Voyager Malt and Hop Products Australia. These businesses have donated all the ingredients for the beer.

Also huge thanks to our two logistics partners: Motus Transport for delivering the beer for free and KegStar for donating the rental of the kegs for free.

Orange-based designer Lucas Martin has also worked tirelessly and at no charge on the poster that is going to all venues, riffing off old-time beer labels and showing our beloved native Banksia – one of the first plants to burst back into life after fire.

What an incredible, giving industry the brewing world is. All sponsors just said “Yes” no questions asked.

Here’s how it works:

  • Pubs and bars have signed up to receive Recovery Beer for free.
  • They have chosen their own charity from the Federal Government’s approved Bushfire Charities list.
  • They have nominated the percentage of proceeds to go to that charity. It has to be more than 65%, mostly venues have opted for 100%
  • After all the kegs have been drunk we will be announcing the total amount raised.

These are a few of the awesome venues that have jumped on board:-

Orange: “The Agrestic Grocer”, “The Greenhouse of Orange”

Sydney: “Yullis”, “Petersham Bowling Club”, “Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club”, “The Lord Dudley”

Canberra: “Transit Bar”, “The Old Canberra Inn” “To All My Friends Bar”

Some of the charities so far nominated include Dingo Den Animal Rescue, WIRES and the RFS.

The beer has been brewed and is being prepared for kegging on Tues 11th Feb and will be making it on to taps from Thurs 13th Feb.

We still have a handful of kegs unaccounted for so if you would like to be involved please contact Badlands – beer@badlandsbrewery.com.au
