Bluefreight Project Logistics announced today the release of a first-of-its kind coastal refrigerated shipping service for Australian craft brewers. This unique service allows brewers to move small to large shipments from the east to west coast of Australia in refrigerated shipping containers.
The regular coastal shipping service aims to offer Australian craft brewers an affordable alternative to coast-to-coast trucking services. Because brewers can choose between regular shared shipments through to single container loads, it’s perfect for both established or smaller brewers who don’t require as much container space.
“There is currently no service like this in Australia. While you can ship coast-to-coast, no one has structured the service for the unique needs of craft brewers,” Bluefreight Managing Director Richard Dexter says.
“We already handle full container loads (FCL) for a few brewers but now we are aiming for a regular scheduled service offering space by the pallet for smaller brewers,” he says.
Dexter adds that a number of brewers have already expressed interest.
“Trucking craft beer across Australia doesn’t really add up for craft brewers. By the time your load reaches its destination, you’ve either spent a small fortune on days of refrigerated trucking or, without refrigeration, the beers have been compromised in the desert heat,” Dexter says.
Bluefreight Project Logistics has loads of industry experience having been selected as the key logistics company for both GABS festival and Ballarat Beer Festival.
“The Australian craft beer community is really supportive and this service really reflects the collaborative nature of the industry. By offering brewers the opportunity to share container loads we’re removing the exclusivity of shipping and giving all brewers the opportunity to get their delicious product out to even more craft beer lovers.”
For Bluefreight Project Logistics this is just the beginning as they expand their craft beer shipping services. The company is gearing up to offer the same service to Shanghai and Beijing in addition to their current FCL service where there is a growing demand for Aussie brews.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, Bluefreight Project Logistics is a project logistics company fully equipped to manage the freight needs of the craft beer industry and is a proud member of the Independent Brewers Association.
