Wayward to open former Bucket Boys bar as new venue

Wayward Brewing Co. has announced it has renamed the former Bucket Boys Marrickville bar as the Wayward Speakeasy.

The brewery made the announcement in an email this week, stating that the bar is an expansion to its current Camperdown brewery and taproom.

“It’s been over seven years since Wayward Brewing opened the doors of their Camperdown brewery and Taproom, and now the brewery has expanded with the opening of a new upscale cocktail and beer venue in Marrickville, Sydney’s Inner West brewery hotspot,” the email read.

“The Wayward Speakeasy is launching officially at the upcoming long weekend, with cocktail deals, happy hour pricing and Vietnamese street food all on the menu.”

The news comes after Bucket Boys announced its rebrand to Local Drinks Collective in December last year

At the time, the company said the Local Drinks Collective brand would replace its retail store, online store, social media pages and marketing communication.

It also announced the refurbishment of its Marrickville bar, noting the plans to rename it as a Wayward speakeasy bar.

Now, Wayward has confirmed the official opening for next week. The bar will have 10 taps featuring local beers, including from Local Drinks Collective partner, Batch Brewing Co.

In early 2022, Batch acquired Bucket Boys before announcing the Local Drinks Collective partnership with Wayward in October.

The businesses described the venture as designed for breweries to work together in a cooperative structure, sharing logistics, sales and potentially production facilities.

Wayward Speakeasy bar is set to open on Thursday, 26th January at 300 Illawarra Road, Marrickville, NSW.
