Little Creatures to stay at original Fremantle site

Lion’s Little Creatures Brewing has signed a new deal securing its future at 40 Mews Road, Fremantle.

Last year, the brewery announced it would move next door at 42 Mews Road, and commence a $30 million redevelopment project, which was set to have a multi-level “re-imagined” hospitality venue.

However the company has now confirmed that it will remain at its original location, due to an opportunity to purchase the lease.

“We know that our team, WA locals and visitors have so much love for this place,” Little Creatures Group Operations Manager, Hospitality Carrie Watson said in a media release.

“With a very rich and colourful 22 years of history on the Fremantle Harbour, this venue has been at the heart of countless catch ups with friends, milestone celebrations and community events.

“So, when a new opportunity arose for us to stay in our original home we jumped at the chance.

“When we made our announcement last year that we would need to move, the option of buying the existing lease wasn’t on the table. We are very pleased this opportunity has come up.”

Little Creatures, which is celebrating 22 years in business, is heralded for its impact on the craft beer industry, particularly with hospitality.

With this announcement, the company confirmed it will allow for future opportunities to upgrade the current site.

“We will invest in taking our famous WA hospitality experience to the next level, putting it at the forefront of Australian craft brewery venues once again,” Watson explained.

“Maintaining our presence at our home means we can now look at making the original Little Creatures venue even better.

“Fremantle is the heart of Little Creatures and it always will be.

“We are committed to Freo and we are very excited about what this investment will mean not just for Little Creatures, but the wider precinct.”
