SEA Brew, South East Asia’s annual conference and trade fair, was held last week with attendee numbers up and a new name announced.
Managing director Charles Guerrier told Brews News that it was an exciting time for brewing in Asia and this was reflected by the growth of the event.
“It was great to see the community back together again and enjoying themselves after two tough years,” he said.
“We were particularly delighted by the turnout, up 20 per cent on our last show, and the engagement created by the increase in workshops and sensory sessions in our programme really told us this is the way forward for future conferences.”
Guerrier closed the two-day event, this year held in Bangkok, announcing the name change to Brew Asia and that Ho Chi Minh City would be the host city for next year’s event.
He said that the name change reflected the growing reach of the event.
“We decided to rename to Brew Asia to reflect the expanding attendee demographic of the show,” Guerrier explained.
“We are seeing more and more brewers and beer distributors joining from all corners of Asia, making this a truly regional conference and trade fair.”
“As Ho Chi Minh City – Saigon to the locals – is probably one of the most vibrant beer cities in the region and situated in one of Asia’s largest beer markets, we thought it would be an excellent place to hold our first ‘Brew Asia’.
“The city itself is compact and easy to get around which lends itself perfectly to hosting evening networking and social events which are an integral part of the show’s programme.”
SEA Brew, South East Asia’s largest brewing conference and tradeshow, ran last week in Bangkok, and had more than 600 attendees from across the region.
