New Beers Wrap

Otherside Brewing Co ‘Experimental Series’ American Strong Ale

otherside-brewing-strong-aleOtherside Brewing Co is set to launch its latest ‘Experimental Series’ release on October 11.

The American Strong Ale pays homage to the big, hoppy-style beers that have come out of America’s north west over the last two decades. Head Brewer Rhys Lopez said the American Strong Ale was the “biggest” beer he had made during his time at Otherside.

“This is a big, fruity beer, packed full of hops from the Pacific northwest. It actually has the most hops we’ve ever used in a beer.”

“When putting this one together we worked to the idea that ‘if it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing’ – We really tried to go over the top without pushing it too far and turning it into a novelty beer.”

“The result is a modern take on those traditional, early craft beers that started popping up in the Pacific northwest in the 90s,” he said.

The American Strong Ale is a very limited small-batch release. It’s the latest of Otherside’s ‘Experimental Series’ beers and the first to be canned.

“This was very experimental and I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s a lot of fun getting creative and we’ve got several more experimentals in the pipeline for Summer.” Rhys said.

American Strong Ale is a hoppy and fruity beer with a sweet malt underbelly featuring citrus and dank resin, stewed fruit and roasted notes from specialty malts. It’s preservative free with an IBU of 74 and ABV of 7.2 per cent.

It will be available from Thursday October 11 at the Otherside Brewhouse and supporting retailers.

Modus Operandi IP Series Release ‘Pittwater Premium Draught’

modus-square-new-beer-pittwaterWe’ve brewed a classic, summer-inspired draught beer for our latest IP Series launch.

Introducing Pittwater Premium Draught, brewed for drinking cold on hot days on the northern beaches and a celebration of the area. At 4.4 per cent ABV, we have let the yeast do the heavy lifting to give the classic style added flavour and a fruity clean, crisp taste.

It’s a pretty classic draught brewed with Pale, Pilsner and Corn malts and hopped with Hallertau. We used London Fog for the yeast, which brings out the fruity flavours.

Launching in cans exclusively at Modus HQ, PPD will be pouring at select venues on the east coast. Stockists and venues to be confirmed.

Stone & Wood Pilot Batch Release ‘Sticky Nectar Hazy IPA’

sticky-nectar-squareWe’re ready for longer days… Our Sticky Nectar is a delicious IPA brewed with lactose and truckloads of fresh mango and pours with a golden haze.

Hop additions of Galaxy, Citra and Amarillo enhance the tropical fruit aromas, while providing firm bitterness that is balanced with a smooth and creamy mouthfeel that finishes medium bodied.

“To kick off mango season around the country, we’ve brewed a milkshake style IPA loaded with mango… We wanted to have a bit of fun with this beer to bring in the warmer Spring days, the perfect drinking occasion for Sticky Nectar.” – Head Brewer Caolan Vaughan.

Sticky nectar comes in at 6.5 per cent ABV, with an IBU of 45. For a list of venues pouring Stick Nectar, please visit here.

Sauce Brewing Co ‘You Bruty Brut IPA’ Tinnie Release

sauce-you-bruty-IPAOriginally conceived as a collaboration with Newtown craft beer bar Uncle Hops, our first foray into the Brut IPA trend was well received and pretty damn tasty if we do say so ourselves.

So we brewed it again, and this time we’re putting it in 500ml tinnies!

What’s a Brut IPA? Think an IPA that is hopped to the same levels as a NEIPA, but is clear, dry and well carbonated. Some call it the champagne of beer. So, good on a warm Spring day.

Moon Dog ‘Brutus Beefcake’s Tropical Vacation’ Fruity Brut DIPA

Brutus-Beefcake-moon-dogThis brute of a beer is lighter than a feather but the hops are so beefy it’s like getting a choke hold from a mango.

A 90kg dry hop teamed up with cold-pressed passionfruit, pineapple, peach and mango juice… this is a Brut IPA on steroids. Warning: More dangerous than a pineapple in spandex with a pair of scissors!

Brutus Beefcake’s Tropical Vacation comes in at 9.5 per cent ABV.

There was so much hops in this that we weren’t left with a huge amount of beer. This one will sell out fast!
