Episode 65: Crowd funding taps and Scott Hargrave

This week we take a look at the latest crowd-funding campaign, this time to pay for a new venues taps and also speak with brewer Scott Hargrave about his soon-to-open Gold Coast brewery.

Adelaide bar-in-development NOLA has taken to crowd-funding site Pozible to raise funds to pay for the taps in their venue. In their words: “We want to give people the opportunity to help us stick it up the big guys. We want the people to help us support the Australian craft beer market by allowing us to provide a venue free from constraints.” We chat with Managing Director Oliver Brown to find out more about the campaign and discuss whether crowd-funding for things such as taps is appropriate or whether it should be seen as the cost of doing business.

Then we catch up with Scott Hargrave, head brewer  of the soon-to-open Balter Brewing, possibly more famous at the moment for its shark-punching co-owner Mick Fanning, but we speak with Scott about the beers he has planning and the idea behind the brewery. We also chat with Scott about his love of brewing and his career that has seen him go from concreter to Sunshine Coast, Stone & Wood and Byron Bay breweries.
