Bridge Road releases Hop School Hop Pack
Single Hop IPAs aren’t exactly a novelty these days, and even collections of them aren’t new. But I don’t remember too many collections that have the sort of packaging the Bridge Road has put around the beer. Featuring plenty of detailed information about the Australian-developed hops, these are a literally a hop school in a box. Learning never tasted so good.
Watch out also for Bridge Road’s new Golden Ale which Ben brewed to replace the beer that launched his brewery, the Australian Ale. Golden Ales seem to be firming up as Australia’s approachable craft beer style du jour and there are some crackers about, including Bridge Road’s.
The Hop School Hop Pack is available from all of Bridge Road’s usual stockists and, if you can’t find it anywhere else, you’ll be able to track it down at Dan Murphy’s. Cost is expected to be around the $20 mark for the boxed four-pack [MK]

Beer School Hop Pack
Bridge Road Brewers enjoy a close relationship with local hop growers at Rostrevor hop garden and are advocates of the great new flavour hops being developed by Hop Products Australia.
The Single Hop IPA Series has continued to grow over the past four years with a total of 5 different hops being showcased. The latest addition to the series is Vie Secret, a unique high alpha flavour hop with huge pine and herbal characters. The Vie Secret Single Hop IPA joins Summer, Ella and Galaxy in our very first release of a dedicated retail mixed pack, the Beer School Hop Pack.
The addition of Vie Secret to the range of single hop IPAs took a surprisingly long time considering we were the first brewery to use this hop variety commercially. In fact, our 2011 wet hop beer The Harvest used this hop exclusively. At this point the future of this then un-named research hop variety was not yet known. Thankfully it was indeed selected for naming, further cultivation and commercial release.
The School Hop Pack has been designed to educate consumers on the unique characteristics of hops, in particular Australian developed and grown hop varieties. Each of the four beers in the pack use the same malt recipe, brew schedule and yeast strain, it is only the hop variety that differs. The result is four similar but very different beers, allowing the drinker to clearly identify the aroma and flavour of each hop variety.

The packs have been released nationally this week.
